What Happened In This Case?

We have learned that a woman driving a Mercedes was killed on May 18 when a man ran a red light and slammed into her vehicle in the morning hours. The man who ran the red light was also killed in the crash.

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department was called to the intersection of Luna Road and Highway 395 where they discovered a Honda Civic and a Mercedes Benz involved in the incident. They discovered that the driver of the Honda had rear-ended another car and was fleeing from that incident when he ran the red light causing the fatality.

Another passenger in the Mercedes was severely injured and was airlifted to a nearby trauma center.

California Statistics

For the latest reporting year in the state, there were more than 278,000 vehicle crash injuries and over 3,600 vehicle crash fatalities. While most vehicle crash injuries are minor, please understand that even minor injuries can lead to medical expenses that damage a person’s finances. In many cases, we see the following injuries in the aftermath of a vehicle crash:

  • Spinal cord injuries (with possible paralysis)
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Internal organ damage/internal bleeding
  • Broken or dislocated bones
  • Severe lacerations or amputations

Victims who sustain these injuries often face long roads to recovery. If they are unable to work while they recover, this can lead to lost income on top of the medical bills that are piling in.

All too often, victims of other drivers’ negligence face difficulties when trying to recover compensation from insurance companies. If a person is injured due to the actions of a reckless, impaired, speeding, or distracted driver, they should not be on the line for the costs.
